Jazz Band is an auditioned ensemble, primarily for grades 9-12, it is open to interested 5th - 8th graders if the ensemble requires more players to balance the group or for exceptional talent.

We advance our knowledge and experience of music by studying styles of music like Jazz, Rock, Funk, Swing, Be-bop, etc. We explore improvisation in various scales and modes.

Jazz Band meets after school from 2:50 to 3:50 every Tuesday
(other rehearsals may be added on Thursdays as needed)

Listening is an important part of playing Jazz. Listen to as many recordings as you can. Ask Mr. Head for suggestions.
