Listed below are several scholarships that are on file in the Guidance Office/Internet.  Please note that the criteria and due dates vary depending upon the scholarship.  If any of the below mentioned scholarships apply to you, please come to the office to pick up additional material or download the application from the internet.  You are responsible for completing all parts, handing out references appropriately, if necessary, and returning them to the guidance office (if applicable) well in advance of the due date. 

 

                                                Scholarship Bulletin #6

 

 

  1. The Randall D. McCarroll Scholarship Awarded to a graduating senior in good academic standing that demonstrate leadership and excellence in one or more varsity level sports.  Please come to the guidance office to pick up the application.  Applications due to the guidance office by June 9, 2008.

 

  1. The Junior League of Orange County – Community Service Award Scholarship in the amount of $500 to a student graduating from an Orange County high school that meets the following criteria:  Female student graduating from high school, current resident of Orange County, entering college in the fall on a full-time basis, involved in women’s/children’s issues as a volunteer.  Applications can be picked up in the guidance office.  Completed applications need to be returned no later than May 15, 2008.

 

  1. Catholic Daughters of the America’s Court Holy Rosary - $500 scholarship.

Graduating senior from the Greenwood Lake School District.  The scholarship

will be awarded to a senior who is pursuing an education post high school and has contributed towards the growth of their community, school, and spiritual development.  Applications can be picked up in the guidance office.  Application must be postmarked by June 1.

 

 

Scholarship Bulletin # 5

 

1.        Police officer Bryan Devlin Memorial Scholarship: 2 - $1,500 scholarships available to a Greenwood Lake resident student graduating in June 2008, accepted by an accredited college or university, have a grade point average of a 2.5 or higher, be pursuing a course of study in any of the following public service fields – criminal justice, fire prevention, education, nursing, or EMT services or be the son or daughter of a parent who is in any of the above listed professions.  Please pick up application and essay topic in the Guidance Office.  Deadline is June 2, 2008.

2.        Tri-State Italian- American Congress: The Tri-State Italian-American Congress awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors of Italian-American heritage.  These awards range from $3000-$5000.  The number of scholarships awarded each year is dependent on available funds.  Original completed application plus on copy of your completed application must be submitted, also two letters of recommendation, one from a high school instructor at your high school and one personal (not related) reference.  Please pick up application in the Guidance Office. Due May 15, 2008.

3.        Tuxedo Sportsmen’s Association Scholarship Award: Applicant should be interested in outdoor sports, conservation, and forestry.  The application must be accompanied by proof of enrollment in an accredited college, such as a copy of a letter of acceptance.  A letter of reference from parent or teacher may be included.  Due May 24th, 2008

 

 

Scholarship Bulletin # 3

 

  1. Section 8 of the New York Association of Transportation Engineers- One scholarship for $1,000.  Deadline is May 15, 2008.  Student must graduate form a high school in the counties of Columbia, Duchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster or Westchester .  Applicant must be seriously intent upon a career in civil engineering, preferably in a transportation related capacity.  Applicant must be a full-time student at a fully accredited college or university, beginning in the Fall of 2008, and carry at least 12 credit hours.  Part time students are not eligible.  Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States.  Please pick up application in the guidance office.

 

  1. The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Scholarship- Being offered to assist students who have been affected by breast cancer in some way.  A minimum of eight scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded.  The foundation provides programs and support services for women and families in the Hudson Valley affected by breast cancer.  More information can be found by going to www.milesofhopebcf.org.

 

3.  Hudson Valley Polonaise Society, Inc.-  Two cash scholarship awards will be awarded to graduating high school seniors of Polish decent.  The first award will be $1,000 and the second will be $500.  Deadline for submission is May 15, 2008.  Please pick up application in the guidance office.
