Course Reflection

Having spent the last 13 weeks working in this class I have come to the conclusion that the class was overall very beneficial to me as a teacher. I have had the chance to renew my skills in technology and have made some very useful products. I will be using what I have learned in this class to expand my teaching repertoire.

Among the products I will use are the Word tutorial, the Excel spreadsheets, and the Integration WebPage. I believe the Word tutorial is something that can be used by many of my students and be helpful for parents as well. I also am very happy to have had the chance to use Excel in a different way. Before this class, I would not have thought to bring it into my classroom due to my inabilities. However, I now have found great tutorials and some very useful online ideas for use in my class. My favorite was the Integration Project. I have now taken a project I use in class and have added that technological component. It was easy and fun to do. I now do not have to copy out all of the papers I have before and my students and parents can have easy access from both school and home. I can also use it to post their products online.

Having taken the class online, I also had the advantage of reading ideas from others teachers and collecting ideas that I can use. I always find the glimpse into a colleague’s life to be interesting and often informative. An added plus is reading their lesson ideas and gaining additional knowledge and technology use from them.

The web sites I looked at throughout this course have proved to be invaluable. I have found so many resources that I plan to use and will add as links to my own Home Page. They will increase the learning experience for my students and their parents and increase my enjoyment of teaching.
